Kathy Jetn̄il-Kijiner
Acclaimed Marshalles poet and activist, Kathy Jetnil-Kijiner, explores the nuclear testing legacy of the Marshall Islands through the legends and stories of Runit Island.

Ola I Ka Wai: Shut Down Red Hill
In November 2021 the US Navyʻs Red Hill Storage facility (locally known as Pūkaki) leaked approximately 14,000 gallons of jet fuel into the primary aquifer on the island of Oahu contaminating the fresh drinking water of 93,000 residents, ironically most of whom were Navy families live near Puʻuloa (Pearl Harbor). Children were hospitalized, families were displaced and the Navy is still stalling on defueling the tanks and at one point tried to counter sue the State of Hawaiʻi for creating an emergency requiring the Navy to shut down the facility. Through grassroots efforts and pressure on the legislature the US Department of Defense finally conceded and sent a shutdown order. However, the Navy is still saying it could take more than two years to defuel the WWII era tanks. These are the same guys in charge of RIMPAC. AʻOLE RIMPAC SHUT IT DOWN FOREVER!

Punahele
Punahele is a ghetto country moke Hawaiian from Makaha, Hawaiʻi that stands against anything that is harmful to ʻāina. He is a Hip Hop practitioner that uses music to create a soundtrack to Hawaiian struggles and frontlines. Punahele is a Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award winner and Hawaiʻi’s first ever IRON MC Champion and has been teaching community songwriting and poetry workshops to incarcerated and “at-risk” youths for over 10 years.  The music he creates aims to build Indigenous solidarity in Oceania and beyond.

Cancel RIMPAC Street Theater - Mock Press Conference

We performed this skit in the discussion tent at La Ho‘iho‘i Ea (Hawaiian Sovereignty Restoration Day), July 31, 2022. The purpose of our work was to lampoon RIMPAC and the ridiculous arguments used to justify so much destruction. Our intention is to give the people the last laugh.  (Main actors: Joy Enomoto, Kim Compoc, Yoko Liriano, Tsuyuno Amos and Malaya, Teatuahere, Lele, Kamalei, Chachie and Rose who played the journalists).

Kim Compoc teaches history at University of Hawai‘i - West O‘ahu and is an organizer with Women’s Voices, Women Speak.  Kim was a co-founder of the theater  group Talking Stories on Maui, Hawaiʻi.

shō yamagushiku and yana-imi

are a spoken word/uta-sanshin duo based on the lands of the WSANEC/Lekwungen and Tongva Peoples respectively. Their work prioritizes the creation of immersive sonic soundscapes accompanied by visual media to convey stories that weave a lifeline to their island roots. Together, they call on their ancestors’ guidance to tell stories of yearning, loss and recovery from a shimanchu (Ryūkyūan) perspective. You can connect with them on Instagram at @shoyamagushiku and @yanaimi.noise
Uyafaafuji's Refsual by shō yamagushiku and yana-imi

This  video is a tribute to the Yanbaru Rainforest in Northern Okinawa. . We stand in reverence to our uyafaafuji (ancestors in Okinawan language) as they manifest in our daily lives. We return to the forest in hopes of better understanding our responsibilities and to increase our capacity to choose relationships that are grounded in mutual reciprocity and respect. In solidarity with all those fighting to #CANCELRIMPAC. May we grow deeper bonds across these lands and waterways.

At the age of 24, poet Richard Hamasaki co-founded ʻElepaio Press with his 22-year old brother Mark, a photographer, graphic designer and printer. ʻElepaio Press’ first publication, an art and literary magazine, Seaweeds and Constructions (1976-1984), included poets and co-editors Paul L. Oliveira and Wayne Kaumualii Westlake (1947-1984) and artists Shinichi Takahashi and Kimie Takahashi among many other contributors. Hawaiʻi Triennial 2022 Associate Curator Drew Kahuʻāina Broderick envisioned the current exhibit at the Hawaiʻi State Art Museum (HiSAM) featuring several art collectives including ʻĀi Pōhaku Press (Maile Meyer and Barbara Pope), ʻElepaio Press (Richard and Mark Hamasaki), Piliāmoʻo (Mark Hamasaki and Kapulani Landgraf) and Tropic Editions, including artist Lawrence Seward and poet Jamaica Heolimeleikalani Osorio. In mid-July 2022, selected photographs by Ed Greevy with captions by Haunani-Kay Trask (1949-2021) from their publication Kūʻē will be installed at HiSAM. All work will be exhibited at HiSAM until December 3, 2022.

Gureombi - Calling - Body
A ritual of collecting the connections and weaving of places. Is it possible to share a name even when we have different memories, experience and therefore different relations? Even though the Gureombi Rock has been destroyed, buried, corrupted, and is consistently attempted to be erased, she is alive as long as we are calling out the webs of names, of voices, sound, colors and of the bodies.
Pachi Productions
ISouth Korea. Pachi Productions ; In Jeju colloquial language, 'Pachi' refers to agricultural products that do not meet "standards" mostly judged by their appearances. Pachi Productions currently consists of three people, Tera, Bokhee, Neulbo who each arrived in Gangjeong village at different times getting involved in the anti-military-base movement in various ways. The three are weaving each others' lives of working, building relationships, learning, teaching, dancing, writing, drawing, whilst monitoring and protesting against the violent, illegal Navy base in the village.

Hayden Kasal-Barsky is a 19 year old University of Hawaiʻi  student, poet, and Student Representative member at UHM. She  lobbied for change relating to the US Navyʻs Red Hill Fuel Storage facility which leaked 27,000 gallons of jet fuel into Hawaiʻiʻs fresh water supply which impacted 93,000 people living on Oʻahu. It is because of acts like this that she hates the ways the US military believes it rules the Pacific and the Pacific Islands. This horrid behavior is why she is   standing  by the Cancel RIMPAC movement
