In commemorating the International Day of Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons, the Marshall Islands Students Association (MISA Fiji) and Youngsolwara Pacific hosted an event, Pass the SOLUTION, on the 28th of September, 2020 at the University of the South Pacific. Over 130 university students, academia, youth groups, civil society organizations, churches, and women's groups led a march through the USP campus as part of the event. Students and guest speakers spoke of the impacts of nuclear testing in the Pacific, with many calling for nuclear justice.
Pass the SOLUTION also highlighted the importance of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) and the need for 50 states to ratify to bring the Treaty into force. We call on leaders who have yet to ratify the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW), to ratify now.
We congratulate the ratifications of the Treaty by these Pacific state-parties: Cook Islands, Fiji, Kiribati, New Zealand, Niue, Palau, Samoa and Vanuatu who continue to be anti-nuclear champions of the Pacific.
