Seven Papuan activists were convicted of treason after anti-racism protests
The seven anti-racism activists have been charged and convicted with treason and rebellion under The Indonesian Criminal Code (KUHAP).
All seven have been accused of organising nonviolent demonstrations in response to racist attacks against the West Papuan students who were being depicted as monkeys in Surabaya on the 16th of August 2019. They student protestors are known as the "Balikpapan Seven."
