About The Exhibition:
Annually on the 1st of December, West Papuans and activists in West Papua and around the world commemorate the raising of the Morning Star flag. The Morning Star flag was first raised on 1st December 1961 prior to the territory coming under administration of the United Nations Temporary Executive Authority (UNTEA).
This year marks the 60th anniversary of the first raising of the Morning Star. Our Morning Star Exhibition celebrates a flag that symbolizes unity, freedom, and independence for West Papua. For 60 years, it has united West Papuans and continues to resist the oppression of the colonizer, Indonesia.
This exhibition is dedicated to the West Papuans who have passed on in their fight for freedom, and to those that continue to fight for an independent West Papua.
