RIMPAC: Let’s Pull The Plug

Over 25 thousand women and men
who speak with a sword instead of a pen
are bound for Hawaii once again
to train and to train and to train more
and then
sail away and kill
let’s not lie, it’s not god’s will
it’s the will of man alone
in a jet, osprey, blackhawk, and drone
and they all make profits soar
as they take our bread and feed us war
and more and more and more
and war and war is what’s in store
from Ecuador to Indonesia
and Israel to Singapore
and more than twenty other countries
who march right through Hawaii’s door
to train here in this ocean
helping ring the Wall Street bell
bringing home pots of stolen gold
making life a living hell
for far too many people
from Bethlehem to Waikiki
to San Juan to Alberta
and to the atolls we don’t see
'Be all you can be or be a top gun
or a green beret or seal
the world is filled up with resources
that you’ll help some rich men steal
then ink a book or movie deal
because war’s always been the rage
it’s only war crimes if you’re Russian
especially this day and age'
let’s turn the page from trillions spent
killing both humankind and earth
let’s pull the plug on war and RIMPAC
and finally realize lives' worth
from Pearl City to Perth, 
to Phnom Penh, the Philippines and Peru
may the ring of fire cleanse itself 
of the old red, white, and blue
