Hagino Erasito
Hagino Erasito is the eldest of 5 siblings born and raised in his island home of Rotuma, Fiji. Hagino was fortunate to learn guitar under the tutelage of his virtuoso maternal grandfather, Peter Raumana. He honed his skills playing at his church and during Christmas celebrations on the island. Hagino further expressed his passion for music when he performed and composed music with Rako Pasefika in 2014. In 2015 he returned to Rotuma and worked as an assistant art and music teacher at Rotuma High School Hagino spent much of his youth playing, learning and working while dive fishing in the ocean and farming the land. As a young boy fishing with his father, he would often discover and cut the fishing nets of fishing vessels illegally fishing off of Rotuma. These experiences made him understand the need to actively work to protect and safeguard his island home. Hagino combines his affinity for the ocean and his musical ability to advocate for the island homes that lie close to his and our hearts. Aside from his passion for music and art, Hagino is an avid spear fisher and enjoys playing rugby and volleyball. |
