Camari Serau
I am the flower child. the barefooter. the cloud walker. the wander luster.” Camari Serau Born and raised in the sugar city of Lautoka, Fiji, she became involved in poetry and advocacy at a young age. Her parents, being her greatest supporters, have always encouraged her to stand for what is right, and she lives to emulate the compassion she was taught by her father and the strength and faith she sees in her mother. Camari has been an advocate for mental health, youth, gender equality, LGBTQIA+ rights, and the right to self-determination for Pacific Islands that are presently under colonial rule, and much of her poetry is centered on human rights, peace, resistance, and the quest for decolonisation of West Papua. |
